Substack, Here I Come.

Hey all! I’m adding Substack into my rotation for writing/publishing. I’ll still be creating free content here, as well as over there, but this will allow me to reach a wider audience, as well as create a small revenue stream to help offset my kiddos’ tuition, which has always been the financial goal of this ministry.

If you’ve been a long supporter over here and would like to support me by signing up for a free or paid subscription over on Substack as well, you can find me here as Beata Birth.

Here’s a snippet from my first post:

When a woman is in labor, her body experiences a complex cascade of hormones. Oxytocin is released to stimulate contractions, prostaglandins help soften the cervix, relaxin aids in the loosening of ligaments and muscles around the pelvis to assist in easier movement, endorphins lessen the sensation of pain, prolactin prepares the body to breastfeed, and so on and so forth. Each hormone is connected to other hormones, as well as being connected to our experience of labor itself.

I like to think of this hormonal connection as a beautiful and intricate web, designed by God for our good, and for the good of our babies. Just as a spiderweb dances in the softest breeze, so does the intricate web of hormones dance according to a laboring woman’s movement, the interventions she undergoes, and the experiences she has during labor.
